Purpose

A life of value has something of value to contribute.

Although we affirm the value of every life regardless of physical or cognitive ability, we believe that humans are meant to have purpose to their day and meaning to their activities. A vocational rehabilitation program is available to each member. Our occupational therapists will evaluate each member, match them with an opportunity for on-campus vocation and train them in their new occupations. Some of our members will shop for supplies at the Homecoming Market and will assist in meal preparation in their household. Others will care for the house pet or groom and feed the chickens and goats in the barnyard. Still others will have the opportunity to work in groundskeeping or to plant and harvest crops from our farm. We believe that a good day of purposeful activity will lead to restful nights and less use of medications for agitation, anxiety and depression.
